Meet John

John Scott is a life long resident of West Virginia. Growing up in Clarksburg taught John the importance of family and community.

John graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1987. He then attended Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. After graduation from Saint Vincent he began his legal career by attending West Virginia University, College of Law.

In 1995 John opened his first office in Fairmont, West Virginia. As a sole practitioner John handled a wide variety of matters from being court appointed counsel in criminal cases to representing local businesses.

In 2000 John was elected Prosecuting Attorney of Harrison County, West Virginia, continuing a family tradition of public service. During his time as prosecutor, John focused his energies on the young people of Harrison County by introducing programs to address truancy and violence in our schools.

John returned to private practice in 2008. While he still had a general practice, his primary practice areas were real estate, oil and gas. Since 2013, John has expanded his practice to include bankruptcy, criminal defense, and estate planning.

John lives in Clarksburg with his wife Donna and their three children.
